'Yellowstone' star Kevin Costner finally addresses if he'll be on hit show's final season

With Kevin Costner's change from lead singer on "Yellowstone" to producer and star of the forthcoming film "Horizon: An American Saga," a crucial question remains: John Dutton, has he been fully explored?  

"I'd like to be able to do it, but we haven't been able to — I'm not sure how it's being worked out," Costner admitted during an interview with "Entertainment Tonight" at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, regarding his return to the show for its final season.   

That series has been so much fun to make. Five seasons were produced by myself. I had hoped to make it to seven seasons,   

but we're now on season five. There are a lot of shows airing at the same time, so I'm hoping everything works out.A spinoff of "Yellowstone"  

starring Matthew McConaughey has already been approved by Paramount Network. A number of actors have stated that filming for the last episode of "Yellowstone" is not currently underway.  

Maybe everything will come full circle for me. 'I would love to do it if it happens, and I feel pretty comfortable with it,' Costner told ET.  

Jamie, played by Wes Bentley, is plotting to have his father removed from office, and Costner's character finds himself in the middle of it all in the first episode of the series' fifth and final season.  

The rumor mill had it that Costner was out for the remainder of season five. The Hollywood writers' strike ultimately lengthened the delay in shooting new episodes,
