The Allman Betts Family Revival Celebrates Dickey Betts' 80th Birthday in Sarasota

The Allman Betts Family Revival performed at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota, Fla., on Dickey Betts' 80th birthday this week.

Devon Allman (son of Gregg Allman) and Duane Betts (son of Dickey Betts) led the band through a mix of roots-inspired songs throughout the night.

Jimmy Hall, Ally Venable, and Tal Wilkenfeld sat in.

“Sailin’ ‘Cross the Devil’s Sea,” followed by Hall's Blind Willie McTell cover “Statesboro Blues,” started Tuesday night's show.

They played “No One to Run With” by the Allman Brothers before covering “I’m No Angel,” the title track of their 1987 album, with Venable's licks.

Wilkenfeld assisted the band in playing “Melissa” and “Ain't Wastin' Time No More.”

Next was Eat a Peach classic “Blue Sky.” After “Dreams,” the band ended set one.

After returning to the stage, “Seven Turns” heated up the night before a Dickey Betts birthday celebration.
