Chainsaw Man creator's Look Back gets its first trailer, and it's my favorite of the year.

Look Back, an anime film based on Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto's one-shot, has a stunning trailer.

In February, Fujimoto announced that Look Back, one of his best (and saddest) one-shots, would be adapted into a film.

The Chainsaw Man movie covering the manga's next arc was announced first, but it still has no release date.

Look Back is due out June 28 in Japan. The first trailer for Look Back was published late last night in my timezone,

displaying a film so gorgeous I can immediately predict it will be my favorite of the year (I've read the manga, so I'm convinced the story will hit).

According to English publisher Viz Media, the one-shot follows "the overly confident Fujino" and "the shut-in Kyomoto" who "couldn't be more different, but a love of drawing manga brings these two small-town girls together."

Fujimoto's manga is analogous to many directors' films about cinema, but it's about working hard to improve at something you love and doing it with people you care about.

On directorial duties is Kiyotaka Oshiyama, an animator that's worked on titles like Chainsaw Man, Devilman Crybaby, Mob Psycho 100, and who's also drawn a few Pokemon trading cards too.
