Caitlin Clark selected by Indiana Fever with No. 1 pick in 2024 WNBA Draft

The Indiana Fever selected Caitlin Clark first in Monday's WNBA Draft eight days after she finished one of the greatest collegiate basketball careers.  

Clark can help the Fever reach the playoffs for the first time since 2016 and shake up the WNBA at a crucial time.“  

“I think more than anything I'm just really excited,” Clark told NBC News this weekend.  

Over four seasons at Iowa, Clark had unprecedented success.  

Her 3,951 points were the most in NCAA Division I history. She earned two national championship appearances, broke the 3-pointer record, and twice was voted National Player of the Year.  

Her spectacular performance earned Iowa the right to retire her No. 22 jersey last week, only a week after her college career concluded.  

Clark sold out venues and broke TV watching records with her games. ABC aired South Carolina's 2024 national championship triumph over Iowa to 18.9 million viewers, with a peak audience of 24.  

1 million, a 90 percent increase from 2023 and 289 percent increase from 2022. The game smashed TV records set days earlier in Iowa's Elite Eight game versus LSU.  

Even Monday's Brooklyn Academy of Music draft was projected to surpass ratings records.Interest in Indiana increased after Clark joined the WNBA.
